Toys for Blind Cats – The best ways to play with your blind kitty

Toys For Blind Cats - Pebbles the Blind Cat

Finding toys for blind cats to play with is not complicated. But it can take some creativity. Of course, the standard laser pointer or chase the rope isn’t gonna get the job done! But with a little thought, you can have your blind kitty in full “zoomies” mode in no time!

To keep your sightless furriend engaged, the only thing to remember is to find ways to stimulate the other senses. From audible jingle bells to tasty treat puzzles, here is my list of the top toys for blind cats!

Sound

Cats use their ears as communication, protection against predators, and prey detection. In the world of the feline, the ears reign supreme. Cats can even have a sharper sense of hearing than dogs. We are able to hear higher frequency than our canine counterparts.

There are many cat toys that are excellent at engaging the acute feline sense of hearing. I particularly love to play with the Christmas Jingle Bells . These are purrfect to roll around and chase for hours! And, I must admit, it’s always a little fun to irritate the humans.

Something else I really enjoy is the toys that chirp or squeak. These toys are certain to get even the laziest of cats up and moving.

Finding time to play directly with your feline companion is important, also. Together playtime is fun for everyone, and it helps strengthen the human-cat bond. I recommend the interactive chirping cat wand as a great way to interact with your blind furriend.

A personal favorite of mine (as well as my sighted feline companions) is the cat springs. While they don’t exactly make a sound, the clatter and boing they make while being tossed around the floor is ameowzing! These wonderful little toys may not seem like much, but once a kitty gets started rolling them around the house, it’s game on. Hands down, voted by my brofurs and sisfurs as Best Toy Ever!

Smell

Cats have at least 10 times more nasal receptors than do humans. Therefore, smell is a perfect way to attract a blind cat. What better aroma is there for a kitty than catnip?! Many toys are available that include catnip. But the best toys for blind cats stimulate multiple senses at the same time.

Kong Toys are amazing for many reasons. They are durable, high quality, and purrfect for any blind cat. There are many catnip toys to choose from, but these are the ones I purrsonally love. Not only do they have the amazing catnip smell, they also have the crinkle sounds and soft texture to make the best combination.

And, of course, when in doubt, just sprinkle a little Catnip on the table and watch your kitty go! Here is a video Mom took of my brofurs and me having a little too much catnip fun! What can I say? I can be a bit of a nip head sometimes.

Texture

Even a bling cat needs to keep her nails fresh and sharp! Don’t forget to add a Cat Scratching Pad or two around the house. Remember, cats are going to scratch, whether you provide an appropriate outlet or not. And if you choose not to, trust me, your furniture will not thank you for it!

One texture that no respectable feline can resist is a crinkle ball! These things are nothing but pure fun. And remember, in a pinch, you can always just toss out a wadded up piece of paper.

Everyone loves a good massage. The self-grooming cat scratcher and massager is out of this world! Be warned, though. Your little furry friend just might get addicted.

Taste

Toys for blind cats don’t have to roll or squeak to be exciting. A perfect option is a food or treat puzzle. Once again, it’s Kong for the win! They offer some Active Treat Balls that all cats find appealing. What’s not to love? There are treats inside! And, of course, you can always go with the classic KONG Treat Dispenser. These are great to keep your cat (or dog) occupied and out of mischief for a while.

At our house, we love to play with the food puzzles. Not all cat brains are created equal, but since I’m advanced, I can always get my share of the treats!

Miscellaneous Toys for Blind Cats

Of course “toys” don’t always have to include things to bat around the house. Any form of positive interaction or exercise can be rewarding.

Although felines have a reputation for being difficult to train, I can assure you this is untrue! Cats can be taught any trick using positive reinforcement and clicker training. You can get a Clicker Training Kit complete with instructions, clicker, and treats! The sky is the limit when it comes to training your cat.

Even blind cats retain the natural instinct to climb and be high off the ground. Don’t be afraid to incorporate all sorts of furniture and climbing trees!

Of all the toys for blind cats, nothing compares to a kitty outdoor adventure! Blind Cats can learn very easily to go for walks safely outside. It is very important to select the appropriate Cat Harness and Leash to make sure your feline stays safe! Because blind cats rely more than other cats on sounds and smells, they are less likely to try to run away from their human companion if they become startled. In fact, nothing makes me happier than warm weather, a harness, and an amazing outdoor adventure with Mom and Dad!

If you are blessed to share your life with an amazing blind cat, don’t forget that she needs just as much play as a sighted cat! By finding the right toys to fit her preferences, you can enjoy a long and rewarding life of fun and adventure.

Until next time… Keeping Pebbles Strong!

Hi Pebbles! I’m Stunning Keisha and it’s a shame you can’t see how stunning I am. I’m sighted but I love to play with crinkle balls and rattle balls. Have you ever had valerian or silvervine? Those are the best cat highs ever.

Hi Pebbles! If you could see what I look like, it would be like looking in a mirror! We look identical! I had one eye taken out when I was a kitten, mom says it never formed properly. Although I have one eye, I am also blind! Boy, those mylar balls are my FAV! I wish I could send you a picture of myself, so your mom could see how much alike we look.

Hello, my friend! My mom said if you look like me, you must be beautiful. =) I’m so happy you found such a wonderful mom to take care of you.
