The truth is, felines have appeal for even the manliest of men. So whether your favorite movie is The Notebook, or whether you laughed when Ol’ Yeller died, this cat’s for you!
August 15 is Check the Chip Day. This is an important day each year where the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association team up to remind owners of the importance of the microchip. For those who already have a microchip, it’s a reminder to “check the chip” to make sure the information is up to date. So how do microchips work? Why are they important? And, really, who cares? Well, if you share your life with a non-human critter, have a seat and listen up. It’s about to get real in here.

If you live in the southern, central, or mid-Atlantic areas of the United States and own a cat, you should be aware of the potentially deadly disease, Cytauxzoonosis (or bobcat fever). Cytauxzoonosis (pronounced Sight-oh-zo-un-osis) is a life-threatening disease of domestic cats. It is caused by the protozoal parasite, Cytauxzoon felis.. The disease progresses rapidly and has an extremely high mortality rate. No vaccines are available. Therefore, all cat owners should be aware of this devastating disease and how to best protect their furry companion.
